About Us ...

Who we are...

The Atlanta Apologist is a faith-based apologetics organization with a focus on science. We are located in the greater Atlanta GA area with a goal to further God's kingdom using apologetics through local meetings, events, and outreach efforts.

Meetings...

Our meetings are typically held the fourth Thursday of each month starting at 7pm. Most meetings will have a speaker but on occasion we may present a video or special resource. We strive to have topics related to science apologetics and encourage discussion. Everyone of all faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds are invited.

In person meetings are typically held at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. When meeting in person, we also host our meetings on Zoom in a hybrid format. For meetings where our speaker is not local, we host our meetings on Zoom only. Zoom information may be obtained by subscribing to our announcements (see header) or contacting us via the contact information provided in our footer.

Beliefs...

It is our desire to bridge the perceived gap between science and the bible through better education and understanding of how the scriptures and science complement each other. We believe in the two "books" of creation... the "book" of nature which is created by God and his inerrant Word found in the Holy Bible. Since these two "books" are both created by God, they must agree. Issues can arise from misinterpretations or misunderstandings on one or both sides. We believe in presenting the Truth of these two "Books", nature and the bible, with gentleness and respect.

History...

Atlanta Apolotist was originally known at the Atlanta Chapter of RTB (Reasons to Believe). Towards the end of 2023, we began to identify as Atlanta Apologist but remained affilitated with RTB thru the end of April 2024. We are no longer directly affilicated with RTB as of this date since they have discontined all national chapters.

Our website dates back to 2004. Known then as the Atlanta Chapter of RTB, the chapter was founded by John Walley as the first president (2004-2006). Subsequent presidents were Robert McKnight (2006-2007), Rod Nave (2007-2021) and Don Taylor (2021-present). We have had numerous presentations and speakers over the years. Be sure to scroll through our past topics and speakers for a bit of our history.

Partners and Support...

Our "sister" organization is The Areopagus led by Dr. Jefrey Breshears. We have worked closely together over the years on various events with a similar mission to further the gospel in the Atlanta area. Many of our members also work with and/or support various local faith-based organizations such as Ratio Christi (predominately the Kennesaw Chapter) and Faculty Commons under Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). We also continue to partnership with RTB for guest speakers and support their mission when they need support in the Atlanta area.
